The permit
Chicago block-party permits are issued by your alderman's office. Apply at least 15 days out. Approval requires signatures from most homeowners on the block.
Restroom count
For a typical block of 50–150 attendees over 4–6 hours, one to two portable restrooms handle the day. Add a handwash station if food is being served.
Placement
Place units at the ends of the block near the street closure, not in front of a specific neighbor's yard. This is where diplomacy matters.
