A great outdoor wedding lives and dies by two details guests never talk about: parking and bathrooms. Get the restrooms right and no one thinks about them once. Here's the playbook we've refined across hundreds of Chicagoland weddings.
Walk the site first
Pick a spot that's flat, out of every photo angle, and within reach of a standard 15-amp outlet if you want interior lighting. Behind a garage, hedge, or existing structure is ideal.
Choose luxury for weddings
Standard units are for jobsites. For weddings, choose a luxury unit with a flushing toilet, sink, and mirror. Bride, mothers, and guests in heels will notice.
Unit count
Plan one luxury restroom per 75 guests, plus one ADA-accessible unit for weddings over 100 guests. Long ceremonies or open-bar receptions push you toward one per 60.
Delivery timing
Schedule delivery the morning of the event or the day before if the site is secure. For multi-day weddings, add a mid-weekend service to keep everything fresh.
The little details
String lights, a small side table with hand sanitizer, and a printed sign turn a portable restroom into a thoughtful moment. It matters more than you'd expect.
